A week of record-breaking temperatures in Europe ended in another hot day and for the second night in a row Copenhagen bore witness to a thunderstorm. Tonight’s offering, however, was confined to the insides of Amager Bio as The Warning tore up the stage.

At a point midway through the gig, Lead singer and guitarist Dany Villarreal Vélez got genuinely freaked out by roar of foot stomping in the balcony from the crowd, such was the level of enthusiasm the crowd had.

Without a doubt, this band is one of the most exciting live acts going now and the Villarreal Vélez sisters have that rare combination of hard skills, awesome riffs and most importantly, a stage presence that leaves many in the dust.

Covering a very archetypical lineup you have the charismatic powerful singer and guitarist with Dany on lead, hard hitting dynamo drummer Paulina Villarreal Vélez and the reserved sultry Alejandro Villarreal Vélez on bass. With a new album soon to be released today was combination greatest hits, some old deep cuts such as MARTIRIO and of course the newer songs Ritual and Kerosene from upcoming album Everything’s Falling that will be released on August 28th. Much of the setlist was from 2024 album Keep me Fed and the song Sharks in particular, had bone crunching intensity.

If I had one complaint for the entire night it would be that it was a little short, but it’s never a bad thing to be leaving a gig on such a high and wanting to see then again as soon as possible.

The new album can’t drop soon enough, and I think it goes without saying that this gig is Top 10 of all time for me.
